A Nairobi court is set to rule on whether former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana and his co-accused will take plea after the complainant and Mungatana agreed to settle the matter out of court.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Abdul Lorot released the former MP and his co-accused Paul Waweru on a Sh200,000 cash bail pending the ruling on Wednesday, August 19.

Mungatana and his co-accused Waweru were arrested on August 11, for obtaining Sh1000,000,000 from their victim whom they had promised a Sh70 million tender.

According to detectives, Mungatana purported to be working for a top security agency and had promised the victim cereals and building tenders.

The victim was to pay an additional Sh1 million but sensed the documents they had received were fake.

According to the charged sheet, the two face a total of 8 counts ranging from conspiracy to defraud, forgery, uttering a forged document, making a document without authority and obtaining money by false pretenses.
