As Kenya welcomes 2025, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi struck an optimistic tone in his New Year’s message, declaring that this year will highlight the progress initiated by the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“As the New Year 2025 begins, I wish Kenyans God’s grace and blessings. This is the year that Kenyans will realise the good and strong foundation that the Kenya Kwanza has put in place for the great trajectory of our beloved nation,” Mudavadi said in a statement on social media on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
Mudavadi’s message sought to instil hope and rally Kenyans behind the administration’s agenda.
Reflecting on the challenges of previous years, he emphasized that 2025 would mark a turning point for the country, with the fruits of Kenya Kwanza’s policies becoming evident.
“I would like to rally Kenyans of all walks of life to work hard, be peaceful, and keep the Kenyan spirit alive,” he added, urging unity and resilience.
The Kenya Kwanza administration, led by President William Ruto, has faced scrutiny and criticism over its economic policies and governance strategies.
However, Mudavadi framed the past year as a period of groundwork laying, positioning 2025 as the year when tangible benefits would begin to manifest.
Critics, particularly from the opposition Azimio la Umoja coalition led by Kalonzo Musyoka’s faction, have questioned the administration’s ability to deliver on its promises, pointing to persistent economic hardships and social inequalities.
Mudavadi’s New Year’s message, however, sought to counter scepticism with optimism.
His message extended beyond politics, calling for a collective effort to foster peace, health, and prosperity.
“I wish every Kenyan good health and prosperity in all their endeavours,” he wrote, offering a vision of a unified and forward-looking nation.
