The assault case against Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria will proceed to its conclusion after negotiations with the complainant failed.
The Gatundu North MP is facing one count of assaulting and injuring Joyce Wanja Gacie, an offense that allegedly was committed at the Royal Media Services on December 8, 2019.
Kuria is said to have punched Gacie to the ground when they were guests on an Inooro TV show, Kiririmbi, at a time when they had a heated discussion on the Building Bridges Initiative report.
Gacie claimed that Kuria was angered by her insistence on an explanation for offensive words the Gatundu South MP had uttered in a public function.
On Thursday, when Kuria appeared in court, his lawyer Geoffrey Omenke told Nairobi Chief Magistrate Mutuku that the parties were not able to reach an agreement hence the case can proceed to a full hearing.
The state prosecutor, Anthony Gikunda, informed the court that the five witnesses he has lined up are ready to testify.
The case will be heard on April 8 and 9, 2021.
