Morara Kebaso blames activist infighting for stalled Gen Z revolution

By , September 3, 2025

Political activist Morara Kebaso has delivered a powerful message calling for unity and reflection among pro-democracy movements in Kenya.

In an X statement on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Kebaso lamented the internal divisions that have weakened the struggle for change.

“We lost the revolution for change the day we started fighting ourselves. Pulling everyone down, calling them clout chasers and projects for their courage and sacrifice,” he wrote.

The outspoken activist argued that Kenya could have been a different place if unity had been maintained among those pushing for reform.

“But it is okay. We fall, we learn, we rise.

Kebaso is urging a renewed push for justice and transformation.

“Let us try again soon,” he said, rallying his audience for another attempt at meaningful change.

As Kenya faces mounting political and economic challenges, Kebaso emphasised the importance of solidarity in the fight for a better future.

The revolution’s vet waned after ODM leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto signed a pact to form a broad-based government, vowing political stability.

Drama

Kebaso accused the youth of focusing on social media drama instead of taking charge of the country’s future.

In an X post on Tuesday, June 1, 2025, he called on the youth to stop idolising retired politicians and start building a new generation of leadership from within.

He went on to mock the chaotic nature of online discourse, especially among politically active youth.

Morara pointed out that most youth were abled differently, and together they could build a political juggernaut to steer the country forward.

However, Morara claimed this was being hindered by what he described as engaging in baseless accusations and factionalism.

The INJECT Party leader observed that any rising youth was quickly shouted down by accusations of being a mole of the establishment.

Morara packaged the whole scenario as paranoia, hearsay, and unproductive noise dominating Gen Z political spaces.

He urged Gen Z to rethink their approach, not just through protests or hashtags, but by stepping up, building each other’s capacity, and offering real leadership alternatives.
