A man who went missing from his home in Old Town, Kibokoni, Mombasa County on August 8, 2021, now claims that his abductors who are believed to be police officers held him captive in an unknown area for one month.

Abdulhakim Sagar, a relative of slain Islamic preacher Aboud Rogo, was later set free at Voi and was allegedly given Ksh2000 by his abductors as his fare back to Mombasa.

His brother Farid Sagar said Abdulhakim claimed he was set free at 2:00 am on Sunday.

“My brother informed us that he was set free and given Ksh2,000 by his abductors near Tsavo National Park in Voi and ordered to get his own means and go back to his family. He waited until 5:00 am when he hailed a boda boda to a nearby bus station where he would board a bus to Mombasa,” Farid said.

Farad further revealed that though his brother was never tortured, he was still unable to narrate the events of his kidnapping.

“He is still traumatized by the events of the past one month and he has since checked into a medical facility. He seems to have undergone physical and emotional torture. He is still unable to narrate what really happened,” Farid said.

The family further declined to release more information on his return saying their kin needed time to recuperate.
