A 12-year-old boy is recuperating at the Oraba Nursing Home in Migori County after sustaining serious injuries allegedly inflicted on him by his step-mother.

The woman allegedly attack the minor on suspicion of stealing Sh700 from her purse at their home in Orumba slums in Migori County on Wednesday, December 18.

The boy’s desperate cries for help drew the attention of neighbours who rescued and took him to hospital.

Speaking to K24 Digital,  Aruba Nursing Home Medical Officer in Charge Pascal Okutha said that the boy is beginning to show signs of recovery.

“We are doing our best to ensure that the child fully recovers, and thankfully his condition is improving,” said Mr Okutha.

The medical officer said the boy lost several teeth and is not feeding well.

Migori County Police Commander Celestino Nyagah told K24 Digital that they are still pursuing the boy’s parents who fled after a mob threatened to lynch them.

The boy said the woman has been mistreating him and that his elder brother, 15, fled home to escape her cruelty.

The two were left in the care of their father after their biological mother left the home in 2017.
