Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi on Friday, June 6, 2025, donated Ksh1.5 million during an empowerment drive in Kapseret Constituency.

Mbadi, who was the chief guest at the function, registered his shock at the sheer size of the empowerment drive, thanking area MP Oscar Sudi for his dedication to service for his people.

“I want to congratulate Oscar Sudi; you have done a wonderful job. When I was coming here, I was just told it would be an economic empowerment, I did not know it could be this big,” Mbadi said.

Niko na pesa ya hawa watu wetu milioni moja na nusu (My contribution to these people is Ksh1.5 million),” Mbadi stated.

Big event

“In my mind, this was going to be one of the small fundraisers to empower a few youth and women from the community, but I was mistaken. This is on another level and requires more brain power to come up with,” the CS added.

He indicated that Sudi had surpassed the qualifications of being a member of parliament, and that the constituents of Kapseret were lucky to have the leader.

“My brother Oscar Sudi, your grade here is A+. As the people of Kapseret, you are lucky to have this type of a leader, and therefore, you must protect and preserve him,” Mbadi said.

“Once you lose this type of a leader, it may take the people of Kapseret Constituency 100 years to find a leader with similar qualities. He should be given another term.”

Kindiki, who had been invited to the function, skipped the event and was seen on similar tours in Machakos County.

“I thought Deputy President Kithure Kindiki would be here as the chief guest, but Sudi had decided that I was to be the senior-most government official in this function,” Mbadi stated.

The Treasury CS called out former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for what he termed reckless and divisive speeches.

Items worth millions

“If you are given a leadership post, you have to demonstrate that you can bring people together through your words and actions,” Mbadi noted.

During the empowerment drive, Sudi distributed vehicles, motorcycles, carwash machines, deep fryers, milk cans and other assorted items worth Ksh45 million.

“Kapseret Economic Empowerment Programme is crucial not only for uplifting residents today but also for building a stronger, more prosperous future for our entire community,” Sudi said in a statement on Friday, June 6, 2025.

“Today, as part of the Kapseret Empowerment Program, I donated various items—including motorbikes, matatus, posho mills, milk canisters, food trolleys, commercial deep fryers, potato cutters, water tanks, and sewing machines—to support residents in achieving economic self-reliance.”
