Manduku urges Kenyans to stay vigilant during IEBC interviews

Member of Parliament (MP) for Nyaribari Nyasaba Daniel Manduku has called on Kenyans to exercise vigilance during the ongoing interviews for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) candidates, which are being aired live.
Speaking during an interview on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Manduku encouraged the public to actively engage in the process by watching the interviews and evaluating candidates’ qualifications, experience, and ability to effectively carry out their duties.
He emphasised that the live airing of the interviews offers a unique opportunity for citizens to closely observe each candidate’s performance and assess their suitability for the position.
“We need to have a level of confidence and give credit to the fact that the IEBC interviews are being aired live. Kenyans should be vigilant and observe the performance of each IEBC candidate with the aim of creating a parallel scorecard,” Daniel Mandugu said.

Manduku also stressed the importance of holding the interview panel accountable for the candidates they recommend. He noted that if the panel suggests candidates who, in the public’s view, do not meet the required standards, Kenyans have the right to take action.
He urged citizens to be aware of their legal options, including filing a petition in court if they believe the process has been unfair.
While emphasising the need for vigilance, Manduku also cautioned against rushing to conclusions before the process is complete.
“If the panel suggests names that we believe did not qualify, we have recourse, including making a petition to the court. Let us not preempt the outcome because the election system is quite complicated and is very elaborate at every stage covered by the law, right from the presiding officers to the returning officers all the way to the chairman,” he added.
