The man who shot the owner of Ranalo K’osewe Foods, William Guda Osewe, six times has been jailed for a day for contempt after he insulted his victim in court during his defense hearing.

Tom Oywa Mboya was on Monday, January 18, put on his defense after the court found that he had a case to answer in the attempted murder charge.

But he quickly put himself in trouble after he angered Nairobi Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku for using vulgar language during his cross-examination by prosecutor Anderson Gikunda.

Gikunda asked Mboya why he continued shooting at his victim who was already disarmed when they allegedly had a bust-up over a woman.

But the petulant Mboya told the court he continued shooting his love rival because he was behaving like an animal.

In his earlier defense, Mboya confirmed to the court that he fired two shots in the air and another at Osewe’s right hand in which he was holding his firearm to scare him.

After shooting him, Mboya said that he did not help Osewe but rather drove to Kasarani Police Station to report the incident.

Mboya said that before the shooting ensued, he was just leaving Hagon Hotel off Thika Road when he saw Osewe storming out his car screaming at him in Kiswahili: “Umelala na bibi yangu sana lakini leo nimekupata (You have slept with my wife a lot but today I’ve caught you].”
