A man from Kasarani on Tuesday appeared in Makadara Law Courts to testify against another who stole from him after he denied him an opportunity to sleep in his house.
In the court records, the accused person Daniel Ooko Alego who was in the company of other two people allegedly broke into Samuel Mutahi’s house and stole his three laptops, phone and cash money.
Alego and his accomplices according to Mutahi were captured on a CCTV footage while breaking and stealing from his house.
Appearing for the first hearing before Makadara Senior Resident magistrate M. Malingu, Mutahi told the court that Alego committed the offence on August 16, 2021, at Clay City in Kasarani, Sub-County. He says that accused stole his electronics and cash all amounting to Ksh135,600.
Mutahi testified that he left his house in the company of his wife in the morning at around 10:00 am that day.
“I came back at around 9:00 pm and found the door broken and the items were stolen. The following morning, I went to ask for help from the caretaker who reviewed the CCTV footage.
“That was when we saw Alego and the other two; a woman and a man committing the crime,” he narrated.
He revealed that Alego once asked him to sleep in his house but he was not comfortable with the request.
“He asked me to allow him to sleep in my house because he had lost his job and he did not have money to afford better accommodation, but I could not allow him,” the victim added.
The matter will be mentioned on February 25.
