The DCI detectives on Sunday night (December 22) arrested a man, who had landed at the JKIA from the USA, on suspicion of fraudulently benefiting from the proceeds of Arror and Kimwarer multi-billion shillings dams scandal.

The DCI say the man, Jackson Kinyanjui, was a “wanted fraud suspect”, who sneaked out of Kenya despite being arrested and arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in mid-2019.

Detectives said that on July 22, they had obtained orders to arrest Kinyanjui, who, at the time, had already flown out of Kenya.

“[Upon arriving at the JKIA on Sunday], he was stopped by immigration officers before being handed over to

@DCI_Kenya detectives. Upon interrogation, he alleged that he had been cleared to travel on securing his passport from Milimani Law Courts after previous arrest. He remains in police custody as further investigations ensue,” said the DCI on Twitter.

In mid-2019, the DPP ordered the arrest of Kinyanjui, a former director of resource mobilisation at the National Treasury. He served during sacked minister Henry Rotich’s tenure.

Kinyanjui, said to be an economist, allegedly benefited from the Ksh21 billion that was allegedly embezzled in dubious Arror and Kimwarer dams deals.
