Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo have called for swift investigations into the brutal murder of Dela Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Ahmed.

In a statement, Faith called on Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga to intervene and call for immediate investigations to bring the perpetrators to book.

“We demand an immediate, thorough, and independent investigation into the abduction of Hon. Yussuf Hussein Ahmed. We urge the Director of Public Prosecutions to exercise his power under Article 157 (4) of the Constitution and direct the Inspector General of Police to urgently conduct investigations aimed at apprehending and prosecuting all those involved in the heinous crime,” the statement reads in parts.

While condemning Hussein’s murder, Faith who termed the death as a reprehensible and flagrant violation of his fundamental rights, expressed concern that the brutal death of the politician could instil fear and insecurity to the public.

The LSK president further assured the public that the law body will continue to closely monitor the case to ensure that justice is pursued and served.

“As we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Hon. Ahmed, we stand in solidarity with them and the people of Wajir County during this difficult period.”

Hussein’s mutilated body was found in Lake Yahud weeks after he was reported missing.
