It is only Tuesday but it has been a long week for former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who was summoned to the DCI headquarters on Monday to record a statement over his public utterances over the 2017 election violence.
After hours in the hands of the DCI detectives and a night at the Muthaiga Police Station, Sonko was whisked to the Kiambu Law Courts where he was charged with 12 counts, nearly all of them over an incident that occurred on May 25, 2019, at a private property in Buruburu Phase 4 in Kamukunji, Nairobi County.
Here are the charges that the state levelled against the former Nairobi City boss.
Count 1: Forceful and violent entry into land belonging to Landmark International Properties Ltd at Buruburu Phase 4 on May 25, 2019, by unlawfully leading a group of men, not before the court, to storm the private land.
Count 2: Assaulting and injuring Evans Obaga at the same Buruburu land.
Count 3: Assaulting and injuring George Chege.
Count 4: Assaulting and injuring Paul Kahiga.
Count 5: Assaulting and injuring Charles Karori.
Count 6: Assaulting and injuring Alex Kioko.
Count 7: Assaulting and injuring Stephen Ouma.
Count 8: Assaulting and injuring Musyoki Kavunda.
Count 9: Assaulting and injuring John Mungai Wanjiru
Count 10: Assaulting and injuring Joel Kinja Muthui
