Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced interruption of water flow in Nairobi Central Business District and parts of estates around the city beginning Thursday, March 10 at 6:00 am.

The water shortage will be experienced till Friday, March 11 at 6:00 pm.

The water supplier said the interruption is caused by major leakage along raw water pipeline from Mwagu water intake along Chania River to Ngethu Water Treatment Plant.

“We shall strive to complete repairs as soon as possible and resume water supply to the city,” the company Managing Director Nahason Muguna said in a statement to newsroom.

The interruption will affect the whole of city centre; and areas along Mombasa Road, Industrial Area, Juja Road, Jogoo Road, Outering Road, Kangundo Road, Thika Road, and Limuru Road.

Residents of estates around Naivasha Road, James Gichuru Road and Lang’ata Road will also go without water for the 36-hour period.

“Whilst every effort will be made to restore the water supply as soon as possible, we request all customers in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the period of interruption. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” Muguns added.
