ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, February 15, dropped his first-ever music video, a song that is expected to champion his August 9 presidential ambitions.

Raila’s song is a rendition of the popular Luhya song Lelo ni Lelo composed by Benga star Emmanuel Masindi.

The song whose audio was recorded at FP Records in Kawangware by upcoming producer Festus Papai aka Papa FP was shot in Karen and Kawangware areas in Nairobi.

The music video was however directed by Nezzoh Montana.

In the song, the ODM boss is heard saying “Kenya mpya inawezekana” as other band members sing along with “Leo ni Leo” chorus.

Raila later ushers in the second stanza of the song with a heavy baritone tone before the other band members join in.

Speaking to The Standard, Maji Maji, the man behind Raila’s move to record the song, said that the song will not only boost Raila’s presidential campaigns but also help him generate some income.

“This is not just a campaign song. The other gain we expect from this is to have a leader of that calibre exposed to the issues that affect musicians,” Maji Maji told the publication.

The Leo ni Leo hit song is one of the four songs the ODM chief is expected to release this year before the August elections.

The former Prime Minister is also expected to do a music collaboration with young artistes including singer Trio Mio.
