Former president Daniel arap Moi is alert and aware of his surroundings, his Press Secretary Lee Njiru said on Tuesday.
However, Moi’s family has faulted a section of the media for publishing “negative and alarmist” reports about his recent hospitalization.
“The true position is that Mzee Moi is in hospital being attended to by a professional medical team led by his personal physician, Dr David Silverstein. He is alert and conscious of his surroundings,” said Mr Njiru in a statement to newsrooms.
Mr Njiru noted that Moi’s hospitalization had generated immense interest because of his considerable stature, both local and international and thanked well-wishers.
“The family is asking the media to, in this regard, publish only the medical bulletins issued through the legally established official channel,” said Mr Njiru.
