KRA chair promises recruitment transparency after previous scandals
By Cynthia Lodite, July 29, 2025The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has assured the public of a transparent recruitment process following a push by the public to have regional balance in the Authority.
KRA Chair Ndiritu Muriithi, while speaking to a local media house on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, highlighted the Authority’s progress so far, adding that the institution is working towards a transparent hiring process.
“We are renewing our team, and I think it provides us with an opportunity to correct any imbalance that was there in the past,” the KRA chairperson disclosed.
While indeed acknowledging that there may be a regional balance gap within the authority in the past, the chair revealed that the authority is working slowly to undo the past doings.
“What happened happened, we may not be able to fix it instantly,” Ndiritu stated.
Additionally, Ndiritu further affirmed to the public that KRA’s hiring transparency as a regional balance remains a work in progress, further noting that deliberate measures are in place to ensure transparency in the hiring process
“It is work in progress,” he noted.
Ndiritu’s remarks come up months after a public outcry over claims that 56 per cent of KRA’s workforce comes from only two ethnic groups, raising inclusivity concerns in government hiring.
