Kisumu man charged for defiling two 9-year-olds released on Ksh200,000 bond

A 53-year-old man from Kisumu was on Thursday, July 1 charged at a Kisumu court for defiling two minors.

Joel Etale alias Omwami appeared before Winam Law court Senior Resident Magistrate Joseline Mitei.

The court heard that Etale unlawfully gained the canal knowledge of two 9 year old minors on diverse dates of between the month of June 2021at Manyatta area within Kisumu County.

He was alleged to have committed the offence contrary to section 8(1) (2) of the sexual offences Act no 3 of 2006.

On the alternative count, he was also charged with perpetrating an indecent act with a child contrary to section 11(1) of the sexual offences Act 3 of 2006.

According to the charge sheet, he faced four counts where he was charged twice with defilement and perpetrating an indecent act with a child separately for the two minors.

The accused person however pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was released on a bond of Ksh.200,000.

“I, therefore, release you on a bond of sh.200,000 with a similar surety,” the magistrate said.

The matter will be mentioned on July 15th where a hearing date will be given.

On the charge sheet, three witnesses have been placed to narrate the ordeal.

Etale was arrested on Sunday and was being detained at Kondele Police Station.
