A middle-aged man has allegedly assaulted and injured his four-year-old step-son for bedwetting at Maili Mbili, Nyaribari Chache sub-county in Kisii County.

Victor Rabuko, a health records officer at a private hospital in Kisii and the stepfather of the victim, is said to have broken the child’s left arm after giving him a thorough beating.

Confirming the incident, Kisii County Police Commander, Francis Kooli, told the press in his office at Kisii town that the child is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kisii town.

“I can confirm that we have arrested the father and he will be arraigned in court to answer charges on that serious assault,” Kooli added.

Kooli also said that it was shocking for a parent to beat a child for wetting the bed and police are still on with investigations to gather more evidence.

Kooli noted that the incident occurred on Sunday but the child was taken to the hospital three days later.

He advised women to report fathers who assault their children to a police station because the lives of the children are more important.

The neighbours have since refused to talk to the media for fear of intimidation
