Kindiki responds to growing calls to make Ruto one term president

By , July 13, 2025

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has come out strongly against political narratives suggesting President William Ruto is a one-term leader, stating that the Head of State remains fully committed to transforming the lives of Kenyans.

Speaking on Sunday, July 13, 2025, during an Economic Empowerment Engagement at Gachie Primary School in Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, Kindiki emphasised that the Kenya Kwanza government is focused on delivery, not distractions.

“Our interest is not in how long President Ruto will be in power, but how much change he delivers to ordinary Kenyans,” said Kindiki.

He said the administration is working on completing ongoing projects and rolling out new ones to address local challenges in health, housing, roads, and education.

When the time for elections comes, Kindiki added, every leader will present their record.

“Come campaign season, we will return to the people with a development scorecard. Even those who held high offices before will have to do the same,” he stated.

Kindiki also called on leaders to focus on empowering the vulnerable instead of using political rhetoric to gain popularity, saying true service means helping communities even when votes are not at stake.

He revealed that Kiambu County has received over Ksh70 billion worth of national government investments. Among the key projects is the Karura-Gachie-Gacharage Road, which is nearing completion and expected to ease movement and trade.

The government is also building the Kiambaa KMTC Campus with Ksh200 million allocated, including funding for student hostels.

The Wangunyi Technical Training Institute has received Ksh70 million for construction and another Ksh281 million for additional facilities.

Further, 26 modern markets are under construction across Kiambu, with three in Kiambaa. The county is also a beneficiary of 17 affordable housing projects and 15 institutional housing programmes targeting police, training, and technical institutions.

“Kiambu has gained massively from our national development agenda. And this is just the beginning,” Kindiki said, adding that the government remains determined to ensure every citizen feels the impact of development at the grassroots level.
