Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has praised Linda Jamii, a package within the Social Health Authority, predicting that it will be perfected in the coming years.

Through his official Facebook page on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Kindiki described Linda Jamii as “the best thing Kenya has ever heard,” calling it a bold policy initiative in the developing world.

“In the next few years, fine-tuning of the issues of drugs, personnel, medical equipment, and sustainable funding will have been perfected,” Kindiki wrote on Facebook.

Kindiki’s message to Kenyans

Kindiki’s endorsement comes after a week of well-coordinated, baseless, and unwarranted attacks on former President Uhuru Kenyatta over his remarks at the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference (NDC).

During the NDC, Uhuru had urged the government to serve Kenyans well, particularly in the health sector.

In his September 30, 2025, speech, President William Ruto appeared to defend his predecessor and explain the evolution from Linda Mama to Linda Jamii.

“And maybe in defence of my former boss, the Former President, we should be a bit magnanimous to him.

“He led our country, and the Linda Mama programme was a great program. We developed it under his leadership and learned a lot from it,” Ruto said.

Ruto further explained the improvements under the Jamii programme.

“Because of the experiences, because of the lessons learned from the Linda Mama programme, we designed the Jamii programme, which was an improvement.

“So Linda Mama was good. Linda Jamii is obviously better,” he added.

Health analysts say Kindiki’s praise and Ruto’s defense signal a strong government commitment to SHA.

By addressing challenges such as staffing, medication supply, modern equipment, and sustainable funding, Linda Jamii is set to surpass its predecessor, ensuring millions of Kenyans gain access to improved healthcare services.

The Deputy President’s prediction reinforces confidence that the Social Health Authority framework will reach its full potential in the next few years, providing a comprehensive and sustainable solution to Kenya’s healthcare needs.
