Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has distanced himself and Deputy President William Ruto after relief food branded with DP’s foundation allegedly made some families ill.
The MP took to his Facebook page on Monday, May 25, to inform his constituents that the foodstuffs that turned harmful were distributed in Gikambura by malicious people out to paint him and the DP in a bad light.
“I have just been informed there was a white Landcruiser at around 6PM distributing these foodstuffs in Gikambura. These are not our foodstuffs and we are not distributing anything openly and on vehicles on roads or stadiums and even the fake branding and items are not anything close to what we are distributing,” said the Ruto ally.
The MP said that interventions by his constituency and the William Ruto Foundation are done through known church leaders and the beneficiaries are people already registered as vulnerable.
“Please be cautious as evil people who are distributing these may poison people for politics… Inform all your neighbors. Any support from our office will be delivered to your houses by your known neighbours and church leaders,” said Ichung’wah.
The MP said a family that had consumed the distributed sugar fell ill and had to seek medical treatment.
In an earlier interview with Gukena FM, Ichung’wah said that the food that made people sick was being “thrown off some vehicles along the road.”
