Kenyan Consul-General Gabow makes maiden visit to Haiti
By Arnold Ngure, July 23, 2025Kenyan Consul-General Noor Gabow on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, made his maiden trip to the Multi-National Security Support Mission (MSS) to Haiti, where he met with the force’s leader, Godfrey Otunge.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, MSS indicated that Gabow was briefed on the progress of the mission.
“The Consul-General of Kenya’s Consulate in Port-au-Prince, Republic of Haiti, Noor Y. Gabow, has today, July 22, 2025, made a maiden courtesy call to the MSS Force Commander Godfrey Otunge. Gabow, the former Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (APS) in Kenya, was received by the Force Commander and introduced to the MSS leadership, as well as briefed on the progress of the MSS troops in the MSS security mission,” the statement read.
Conveys Ruto’s greetings
“While addressing the troops, Gabow conveyed greetings from Kenya’s President, William Ruto, and the Kenyan people at large. He sincerely appreciated the personnel for the utmost professionalism and discipline that they have exhibited and commended the MSS leadership for the steadfast guidance that has seen the deterrence of gang activities in Haiti.”

The Consul-General also urged the troops to embrace continued collaboration among the MSS personnel from diverse contingents and continue supporting the Haitian Police towards the common goal of a safer and more prosperous Haiti.
He further assured the troops of support from the Consulate in the provision of essential consular services, as he wished the troops the very best in the mission.
Rise to position
During the vetting, Gabow disclosed that he joined the police service as a junior officer and later rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Administration police, and more recently, an advisor to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
Gabow equally noted that he had worked in the United Nations headquarters, Bosnia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Ethiopia, among other countries.
Gabow was appointed to be Consul-General of Haiti in January 2025 after being approved by the National Assembly’s Committee on Defence, Foreign Relations, and Intelligence.
