Kenya to benefit from Sh19b UN funding for food security

Kenya is among the beneficiaries of Sh19 billion allocated to 24 global projects by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Council of the United Nations (UN) to tackle the critical intersection between agriculture and environmental concerns.
Initiatives set to benefit include the Lake Bogoria National Reserve, the Sacred Mijikenda Kaya Forests and the Shimoni-Vanga seascape, which are essential for the livelihoods of pastoralist, agricultural, and fisher communities.
“The projects are meant to strengthen national food systems while delivering global environmental benefits,” said the FAO director-general Qu Dongyu
