Kenya records 28 new coronavirus infections: Counties and estates that have produced the cases

Kenya, on Saturday, May 9, registered 28 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed infections to 649, Health CAS, Dr. Rashid Aman, said.

Twenty four (24) of the 28 new cases are from Kenyan nationals, whereas Tanzania produced the remaining four, the CAS said while addressing journalists at Afya House on Saturday afternoon.

Six counties registered the new infections. They include: Nairobi (9), Mombasa (10), Migori (4), Kajiado (2), Kiambu (1), Machakos (1) and Homa Bay (1).

In Nairobi, Embakasi (3), Eastleigh (2), Kayole (1), Huruma (1), South B (1) and Kawangware (1) areas produced the nine infections.

The ten cases in Mombasa were registered in Nyali (4), Mvita (4) and Likoni area (2).

The age bracket of the 28 new infections ranges from 11 years old to 81 years old.

The 28 new cases were discovered in 1, 611 samples tested between Friday and Saturday. Seventeen (17) of the patients are male, whereas 11 are female.

Kenya has thus far tested 31, 041 persons for COVID-19.

Five patients recovered from coronavirus disease, bringing Kenya’s total number of recoveries to 207.

One patient from Mombasa succumbed to the disease, pushing the country’s death toll from COVID-19 to 30.
