Kenya Railways announces job vacancies

Kenya Railways has announced career opportunities for the state corporation’s various departments.
In a notice on Tuesday, June 18, the railways corporation advertised 10 senior positions in its legal, corporate, operations and finance departments.
Similarly, other positions advertised were in the commercial, audit and human resource departments of the state corporation founded in 1978.
The positions advertised were:
1. General Manager Corporate Services (1 position).
2. General Manager legal services and corporation (1 position).
3. General Manager Supply Chain Management (1 position).
4. General Manager Rail operations (1 position).
5. General Manager Finance (1 position).
6. General Manager Business and Commercial (1 position).
7. Corporate audit manager (1 position).
8. Property Manager (1 position).
9. Legal Services Manager (1 position).
10. Human Resource Manager (1 position).
Application process
In the advertisement, Kenya Railway advised interested candidates to complete the Kenya Railways application form KR/HR/08 which is available on the Kenya Railways website.
The applicants should attach their certified copies of certificates, curriculum vitae, identification documents and testimonials.
Also, the applicants should note the job reference number on the envelope and the application letter.
The applicants must submit the following documents at the time of application:
1. A signed application letter
2. A detailed CV indicating the current employer, previous employer, positions held, academic qualifications, salary expectation, notice period to take up the appointment and copies of identification documents.
3. Names of at least three professional referees
Successful candidates
Successful candidates will be required to meet the requirements of Section Six of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya and also present the following documents:
1. A valid certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
2. A valid clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
3. A valid tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
4. A duly signed and stamped self-declaration or clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
5. A current and updated report from the Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

This comes after Kenya Railways announced an intention to replace the traditional diesel-powered engines with electric alternatives on the Nairobi rail commuter network as well as the Thika railway.
In the first phase, Kenya Railways intends to electrify the Thika-Nanyuki railway which is the longest commuter line.
Kenya Railways projects the completion of the electric battery technology railway line to be complete by August 2024.
