Kenya Power lists parts of 5 counties set for blackout on Sunday
By Mustafa Juma, August 10, 2025Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has issued a notice informing customers across several regions of planned electricity interruptions scheduled for Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Kenya Power says that the outages that will affect parts of five counties are aimed at facilitating maintenance work on its network.
According to the utility company, the outages will affect parts of the Nairobi, Central Rift, North Rift, Western, and Nyanza regions, with each area expected to experience power cuts within specified hours.
Nairobi
Nairobi County will see part of Parklands affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The specific areas to be affected are sections of Limuru Road, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Parklands, General Mathenge, Ring Road, Eldama Ravine Road, Kusi Lane, Suswa Road, Ngao Road, Jaralam Road, Sivachi Road, Mpaka Road, and adjacent customers.
“Part of Limuru Rd, 1st, 2nd & 3rd Parklands, General Mathenge, Ring Rd, Eldama Ravine Rd, Kusi Lane, Suswa Rd, Ngao Rd, Jaralam Rd, Sivachi Rd, Mpaka Rd & adjacent customers,” the notice read in part.
Nakuru
Parts of Naivasha will be affected from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The specific areas to be affected are Fai Amarillo, Lower & Upper Kayole, Laini, Nyamathi, Kinungi, Roka Industries, Keroche Brewery, Kinamba, Maraigushu, Nyondia, Karate, Gatamaiyu, Livewire, NYS, DCK, Fish Eagle Inns, Oserian, Nyakinyua Farm, Kongoni, Sulmac, Goldsmith, Maela, Home Grown, VEGPRO, Naivasha County Club, Ndabibi, Kamuta Farm, Biojule, and adjacent customers.
Trans Nzoia
In Trans Nzoia County, Kitale Industries and KCC will experience power outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The specific areas to be affected are Kitale Industries, KCC, Stage Choma, Namawanga, Kolongolo, and adjacent customers.
“DATE: Sunday 10.08.2025 TIME: 9.00 Α.Μ. -5.00 Ρ.Μ. Kitale Industries, KCC, Stage Choma, Namawanga Kolongolo & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.
Kisumu
In Kisumu, two main areas will be affected: Kanyakwar and Mega City, Kachok.
The outages in Kanyakwar will affect Olago Aluoch, St Paul’s Parish, Rural Academy, Kanyakwar, Riat, Francisca Sisters, Apunda, Rural Access Camp, and adjacent customers from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In the Mega City area, Manyatta, Mega City, Total Nairobi Road, Kachok, Rubis Kachok, Kisumu Polytechnic, and adjacent customers will be affected from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

“AREA: MEGA CITY, KACHOK, DATE: Sunday 10.08.2025 ΤΙΜΕ: 8.00 Α.Μ. – 5.00 Ρ.Μ. Manyatta, Mega City, Total Nairobi Rd, Kachok, Rubis Kachok, Kisumu Poly & adjacent customers.”
Vihiga
In Vihiga, the Esibuye, Ebubayi, and Esirambatsi areas will be affected from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The specific areas to be hit are Esibuye, Mwilonje, Ebusiratsi, Mundichiri, Ebukhaya, Ebusiloli, Magada, Esiembero, Ingidi, Ebubayi, Ikumu, Echichibuli, Esirambatsi Health Centre, and adjacent customers.
