Kenya Power blackout to affect parts of 4 counties on Sunday, November 9
By Steve Ireri, November 8, 2025Kenya Power has announced a planned power maintenance exercise that will affect parts of four counties on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
In a statement on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the utility company revealed that the scheduled outages are part of routine maintenance aimed at improving the reliability of the electricity supply and ensuring safe operations across the national grid.
“Good Evening. The following areas will be on a planned power maintenance tomorrow (09.11.2025),” Kenya Power wrote.
In the North Rift region, parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience a power interruption.
Areas affected include Racecourse, Jumbo Hotel, Upper Eldoret View, and surrounding customers between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
“NORTH RIFT REGION PARTS OF UASIN GISHU COUNTY AREA: RACECOURSE, JUMBO HOTEL DATE: Sunday 09.11.2025 ΤΙΜΕ: 9.00 Α.Μ. – 4.00 Ρ.Μ. Racecourse, Jumbo Hotel, Upper E/View & adjacent customers,” the statement read in part.

Additional areas such as BioCorn, Steel Mills, Eldocraft, Kidiwa Estate, Mwanzo Estate, Majengo Catholic Church, Our Lady of Assumption School, and adjacent customers will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In the Western region, parts of Kisumu County will also be affected.
Areas scheduled for the outage include Bungu Meri Village, Ojong Secondary, Baba Onditi, Bungu Meri Secondary School, and surrounding customers from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In Kiambu County, residents in Gatuanyaga, Muguga, Thigio, and Gitutha, including nearby estates, schools, markets, and churches, will experience interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected locations include Kisii Estate, Thika Barracks, MKU Pavilion, Landless Estate, Muguga Market, Gatuanyaga Market, Gatuanyaga Primary School, Makongeni, St. Mulumba Catholic Church, Makongeni Police Station, KCB Makongeni, Carter Oakhill School, Glorious Fountain Academy, Nderu, Part of Kamangu, Kereri, Nguirubi, and adjacent customers.

In Kitui County, power will be unavailable in Migwani, Kwa Siku, Mwanziilu, and surrounding areas from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Specific locations affected include Kwa Musee, Kwa Gedeon, Kwa Fatuma, Musuani, Kyome Market, Ilalambyu, Mwanzilu, Nzeluni, SEKU, Ndaluni Market, Kwa Karanga, Itoloni, Migwani Market, Kwa Siku, Nzauni, Kambemba, KEA, Kilungu, Kanyakini, Itumbi, and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power urged residents and businesses in the affected areas to make necessary preparations for the outage.
The company then provided advance notice through its official communication channels and encouraged those affected to visit its website for further details.
