The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has forecasted sunny and dry weather conditions for the next five days in several parts of the country.

In a detailed seven-day weather advisory, the dry spell is expected over a few places from January 14 to January 20, 2025, and the sunny intervals will be accompanied by moderate rainfall.

“Mainly sunny and dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over most parts of the country. However, occasional rainfall may be experienced over a few areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the South-eastern lowlands, especially towards the end of the forecast period,” Kenya Met predicted in the latest weather outlook.

Sunny and dry

In the advisory, the weatherman indicated that residents in the counties in Coastal and the Northeastern will continue to experience prolonged dry spells.

The counties include Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, the coastal parts of Tana River, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo.

“Daylong sunny intervals are expected to prevail through most of the forecast period, with the
possibility of a few areas receiving occasional light morning showers. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy,” the weatherman predicted.

Moderate rainfall

In the advisory, the weatherman indicated that counties in the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley may experience occasional afternoon showers throughout the week and moderate rains in the morning and late afternoon.

The counties include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, and Narok.

“Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas in Narok may experience showers towards the end of the forecast period,” Kenya Met added.

In the advisory, Nairobi and other regions in the Highlands East of Rift Valley and South-eastern Lowlands will experience a day-long dry spell with occasional showers in the afternoon, with few areas having rainfall on Friday.

The regions include Nyandarua, Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta, as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County.

“Daylong sunny intervals are expected to prevail throughout the forecast period. However, a few areas are likely to experience morning rains and late afternoon showers towards the end of the forecast period. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy, though a few areas may experience showers towards the end of the forecast period, “Weatherman predicted.
