The national government has demanded an investigation and action taken against police officers recorded on camera assaulting a man of Kenyan descent in the United Kingdom.

Kenya’s High Commission in London on Monday, October 12, said it had written to the UK government raising concerns over the incident that occurred in Colchester, Essex.

In the video, that has widely been circulated on the social media platforms, Colchester police officers are seen assaulting Wycliffe Cox in front of family members while they were arresting him.

“The Government of Kenya is keen that the case that was reported to the UK authorities in late September 2020 be thoroughly investigated so that justice is seen to be done, and also that all involved be held to account for their actions according to UK police conduct and regulations,” said Kenya High Commission.

The Kenyan envoy to London, Manoah Esipisu, said that the High Commission has been in constant communication with the family and assured them of the Government’s support as they seek justice.
