A Class Eight pupil from Suna Central Location in Migori County threatened to commit suicide after he discovered on Tuesday that he was not registered to sit the 2019 KCPE.

The learner originally studied at Breakthrough Academy, and enrolled for the national test at St. Joseph’s Ombo Primary School in Suna Central.

The boy says he first discovered on Monday that his name wasn’t listed as a candidate when he reported for rehearsal.

He claims the exam supervisor told him that his name was submitted to the register, and that he would be able to sit the tests that kicked off on Tuesday, October 29.

“Should I not sit this year’s KCPE, I will commit suicide. My dream is to become an engineer, and I won’t let anything stand between me and that ambition,” the boy said on Tuesday after realising that he wasn’t listed as a candidate.

The teenager’s mother said she is worried that her highly-ambitious and intelligent son will make good on his threat.

Breakthrough Academy director, Boaz Okello, told K24 Digital that the institution couldn’t enroll the pupil for the national tests because the learning facility was not a registered examination centre.

The management of St. Joseph’s Ombo Primary School declined to speak on the matter.
