Kasmuel urges Gen Zs to join ODM party
By Nancy Marende, August 7, 2025Political activist Kasmuel McOure has urged the youth to join the ODM Youth League and take advantage of the opportunity to grow politically and ideologically within a party that has shaped the country’s democracy.
In a statement on August 7, 2025, while reflecting on his journey from childhood learning to mastering musical instruments and now navigating the political landscape under the mentorship of ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kasmuel emphasised the value of consistency and humility in the pursuit of excellence.
“If you’re young and want to be great at something, show up every day. And don’t be afraid to look silly for trying. That’s where the growth is. Join the ODM youth league today, and let’s grow together,” he stated.
Furthermore, he encouraged them to embrace curiosity, persistence, and continuous learning as they step into national leadership.
“I’m grateful for the gift of curiosity; the freedom to not give two hoots about looking dumb when learning or building something new. I put in the hours. I do the research. I seek out lessons from the very best,” he said.
“From my parents helping me memorise as a kid, to learning speech from my primary school teachers, to musical instruments in high school, and now, understanding national politics under the mentorship of the institution that is Raila Odinga,” he added.

McOure and ODM
McOure joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party on November 10, 2024.
In a statement at the time, after a meeting with party chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Kasmuel said the party is now out to revive youth and student leagues across the country.
He went on to say that ODM is the only pro-people party in East and Central Africa.
The activist further called on young people to join the party, insisting that it is the only political movement that pushes for a country where everyone can live with dignity.
“If you’re willing to join a substantive political movement for a fair, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider @TheODMparty – the largest pro-people party in East and Central Africa!”
“We’re revitalising the Youth and Students’ Leagues and are calling on passionate young Kenyans to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, party chair @gladyswanga, for your faith and hosting us this weekend,” Kasmuel said.
