Kaluma: Charlie Kirk has spoken loudest in his assassination
By Paulette Mboga, September 14, 2025Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has attracted attention after linking the death of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk to the Democratic Party’s agenda.
In his statement on X on Sunday, September 14, 2025, Kaluma claimed that Kirk’s assassination was a powerful statement against issues he has long opposed, including LGBTQ rights and diversity programmes.
“The body of Charlie Kirk will go into the grave with the Democratic Party and its LGBTQ/CSE/DEI/anti-religion agenda forever! Charlie has spoken the loudest in his assassination,” Kaluma wrote on social media.
Kaluma, known for his outspoken opposition to LGBTQ rights in Kenya, suggested that Kirk’s death carried symbolic weight in the cultural and political battles he fought during his lifetime.
His remarks have sparked debate online, with critics questioning whether such statements were appropriate so soon after the activist’s killing.
Memorial service planned
Meanwhile, preparations are underway in the United States for a large-scale memorial service to honour Kirk.
Turning Point USA, the conservative organisation he co-founded, announced that the service will take place on 21 September at State Farm Stadium in Arizona, a venue with a capacity of more than 60,000 people.

The group invited the public to join in celebrating Kirk’s “remarkable life and enduring legacy”.
Kirk, 31, was shot dead on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, during an open-air speaking event in Utah. Police later confirmed that the suspected gunman, Tyler Robinson, surrendered on Thursday night and was taken into custody.
President Donald Trump is expected to attend the service, alongside Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Arizona holds special significance in Kirk’s life as the home base of Turning Point USA and the state where he lived with his wife, Erika, and their two children.
Erika Kirk, 36, made her first public remarks following her husband’s death in a livestream from the organisation’s headquarters. In an emotional speech, she promised to carry forward his mission.
“You have no idea the fire that you have ignited within this wife,” she said, addressing those she called “evil doers”. “The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.”
