Kalonzo reveals nature of his trip abroad
By Francis Muli, July 23, 2025Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed that he is not in the country, explaining his silence and absence from the political arena.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Kalonzo did not, however, reveal where he had travelled to after leaving the country silently.
He says his trip is aimed at making a proper plan for Kenyans ahead of the 2027 polls, in which he said top in the agenda will be to unseat President William Ruto.
“I’m currently out of the country for strategic planning for a better Kenya. I will make my plan for Kenya for Kenyans to review, not Ruto.Agenda No. 1 is #RutoMustGo,” he stated.
This comes days after his allies in the opposition, former Deputy President Tigathi Gachagua and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, left the country for US.
In his trip in the US, Gachagua has been meeting Kenyans in a bid to sell his 2027 presidential bid and seek support in his plans to unseat Ruto.
Meeting Kenyans in Boston on July 21, 2025, Gachagua claimed that Kenya is on autopilot and on an economic nosedive driven by bad policy.
“I have this evening engaged Kenyans in diaspora at a Town Hall meeting in Boston. I am happy that they know the truth; that our beloved Nation is on autopilot and on an economic nosedive driven by bad policy. Their pain and concern, coupled with pressure from home, is increasingly becoming unbearable. This is a result of poor fiscal policy at home doubled by other factors atop, misrule, corruption, state capture, and irresponsible governance,” Gachagua stated on July 21, 2025.
“My promise to them is a better Kenya where all Kenyans respect the rule of law, a Kenya where Education, Healthcare, and social protection policies work, a Kenya that respects the rule of law. We deserve a nation that appreciates the young people not as mouths to feed, but as people with the nation’s greatest potential now and in future to provide solutions to the challenges we face as a people.”
Gachagua has also held meetings with Dracut Town Manager Kate Hodge at Dracut Town Hall and the clergy in diaspora.
“This evening, Clergy in diaspora hosted my delegation, my Spouse Pastor Dorcas, and I for dinner at Chelmsford, MA. The clergy expressed deep concerns over the goings on in Kenya and especially on matters policy and governance, constitutionalism, social security, and economic issues. I assured them that there is great hope for a better Kenya, and our pushback is relentless and championed by our resolve to make Kenya better again,” Gachagua stated on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
Matiang’i’s trip
In his trip in US, Matiang’i asked Kenyans in the diaspora to vote for him in the 2027 General Election and hold him accountable if elected.
Speaking to Kenyans living in Baltimore City, Maryland, in the United States, Matiang’i said he will ensure that all government officials are held accountable for their actions if he becomes President.
“I want you to join me in making Kenya great again. We cannot build the future of Kenya without the diaspora,” Matiang’i stated.
Kalonzo, Matiang’i and Gachagua are a part of the opposition looking to unseat Ruto in 2027, with others including Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa.
