Wiper Party Leader Kalanzo Musyoka has said that the national government is responsible for protecting and securing all Kenyans.
In a statement on his X account on Sunday, September 29, 2024, Kalanzo stated that the Cabinet Secretary of Interior and Administration of National Government Kithure Kindiki must be held accountable for the citizenry’s safety.
Additionally, the Wiper party leader added that President Willam Ruto and Kindiki are ultimately responsible for providing security in the country.
“The government is responsible for protecting Kenyans and Kindiki must be held accountable for our safety. There must be accountability, as the buck stops with him and the presidency,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo on abduction
Speaking during a church service today in Kitengela, Kalonzo condemned the August abduction of Free Kenya Movement coordinator and human activist Bob Njagi.
Recounting moments before his abduction, Kalonzo said that he went with DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa to visit Bob when he was detained at Kamukunji police station to ensure he was safe and would be produced in court.
He further added that the activist was abducted out of a matatu in Mlolongo, he went on to call out today’s deployment of the police in Mlolongo and Kitengela.
“The case of Bob Njagi tulikuwa na yeye Kamukunji police station tulikuwa na wakili mwenzangu Eugene Wamalwa to make sure he is not molested and that he is produced in court promptly. It was when he was leaving Kamukunji he was abducted out of a matatu at Mlolongo,” Kalonzo stated.
“No wonder the guilty are afraid yanini kulete police na landrover Mlolongo na Kitengela? It is a shameful act.”
Kalonzo and his team were earlier barred from attending a church service at AIC Kasina Church in Mlolongo and rallies cancelled by the police.
“The pastor there was threatened. I know the reverend there. He was threatened that we should not even go to church. They even deny us the freedom of worship,” Kalonzo said.
Kitengela three
Bob, Jamil Longton and his brother Aslam Longton, who went missing in Kitengela on August 19, 2024, after being forcefully abducted, were found alive following the public uproar.
According to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo, the activist was dumped at Tigoni Kiambu County, at around 1 am on Friday, September 20, 2024. He managed to find his way to the nearest police station and asked for assistance.
“At around 1 am Bob Njagi managed to find his way to Tigoni police station and for assistance. He is alive and well,” Faith stated.
“‘The message from Bob and family,’ To family, friends and every Kenyan that has continued to pray for me, I wish to confirm that I am well and with my family. It is now time to quiet the noise, be grateful for life and for everyone to reflect on why Kenya matters.”
On the other hand, Odhiambo disclosed that the Longton brothers were found early morning the same day after being dumped by their captors in Gachie Kiambu County.
“I am informed that Jamil Longton and his brother Aslam were dumped at the Gachie border of Kiambu and Nairobi by their captors. Every prayer and intervention made a difference. We thank God that they are safe!” the LSK president posted.
