Members of the Kamba community in Kwale County numbering over 300,000 have accused Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka of snubbing them during his visit to the Coast region.

Feeling spurned, the community is now pleading through its representatives for former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama to pay them a visit instead.

The representatives met in Ukunda in a daylong meeting to deliberate on various issues during which resolved to seek Muthama’s advice on political matters.

Specifically, the community representatives want direction on who to vote for in the upcoming Msambweni Constituency by-election following the death of Suleiman Dori.

Kwale County Akamba Association chairperson, Peter Makau, said that the community in the region has been left in the cold by Kalonzo.

“Other leaders like Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula always meet their people when they come to Coast but Kalonzo ignores us. We are asking Muthama to come and fill the vacuum,” he said.

Kwale pastors’ association representative Joseph Lazaro said that Muthama should take charge and unite the tribe ahead of the Msambweni by-election and Kwale County elections in 2022.

A representative of the community in Msambweni Constituency, Gladys Mwakisha, said that they have been ignored for a long time but still remain united.

She called on Muthama to consider their cry and come to hear them out.

“She also pleaded with county government and organizations distributing relief food to do it fairly adding that their community has not benefited from the support.
