Former Roots Party deputy presidential candidate Justina Wamae has come out slamming netizens for demanding siasa ni ground calls, which she argues demand a lot financially.

According to Wamae, some of the money goes into logistics, branding, accommodation, paying musicians, influencers, photographers, and bloggers, and handouts, in addition to other miscellaneous costs.

“You are running around here shouting, ‘Siasa ni ground.'” Have you stopped to ask yourself the cost of logistics, branding, accommodation, paying musicians, influencers, photographers, and bloggers, and handouts in addition to other miscellaneous costs incurred to run a siasa ni ground type of campaign ya kukataa na shoka?” Wamae wrote.

She went ahead to reveal that the actual cost of running a presidential campaign is north of Ksh4 billion, which she argued is beyond what the Head of State earns for over five years.

“Where do you think that money comes from apart from your looted taxes? For instance, the spending limit for running a presidential campaign in Kenya is Sh 4B. Even if a president does 5 full years without touching their salary, we don’t pay them as much,” she added.

Aftereffects of such campaigns

On the other hand, Wamae has revealed how the amount used to run such presidential campaigns comes and later could influence decision-making in the government.

“The money comes from Big Pharma, including glyphosate companies who bribe your populist politicians, who, upon winning the seats, are in a position to influence and shape policies and legislation regarding the BAN on these dangerous substances, but they CANNOT,” she said.

Likewise, Wamae has warned Kenyans against demanding siasa kwa ground and campaign za kukata na shoka, warning that it will bite in the future.

“How can you bite the hand that feeds you? This is called “dark money” in politics. The greed and lack of foresight as SOME citizens of this country demand for siasa ni ground na campaign za kataa na shoka puts you at the point of having blood on your hands,” Wamae noted.

“You are directly or indirectly responsible for 44,726 new cancer cases and 29,317 cancer-related deaths according to the 2022 data,” she said.
