Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested the woman who brutally killed her husband and their Standard Eight daughter at Kioru village in Ndia Constituency on Friday morning.

According to Kirinyaga West police commander, Joseph Mwika, the suspect identified as Naomi Mwika who is a court clerk at the Karatina Law Courts, was found hiding in a bush near her home by a villager who raised the alarm and informed the police.

Confirming the incident, the police boss said that the woman is in police custody but she’s unresponsive and she’s not aware of her surroundings.

“We have the suspect in our custody at the Baricho Police Station but she looks confused and seems not even aware that she killed her family,” said Mr. Mwika.

The woman allegedly hacked to death her husband Charles Murimi and her 13-year-old daughter, Valerie Njeri. Valerie was a pupil at Jufred Academy in Kagumo.

The woman’s 21-year-old son, Felix Njine, escaped and informed the police of the tragic incident.

Felix that when his mother swung at him with the axe she was using, he ducked and seized the weapon from her.
