Police in Isiolo County are detaining their colleague who allegedly sold bullets to a civilian before threatening to kill locals.

It all started when the officer identified as Daniel Kilyunga attached to Aramiet General Service Unit (GSU) camp threatened to kill some residents.

This prompted the locals to make a report to the GSU camp that the officer was endangering their lives.

Officers immediately responded and proceeded to the scene where they found the officer carrying on with his theatrics.

“They found the officer who was carrying his G3 rifle with four magazines as he was heading back to the camp,” the report read in part.

It was established that 40 rounds of his 80-ammunition gun were missing.

Asked where he had taken half of the bullets, the officer disclosed that he had sold them to a person who he only knows physically at a nearby village.

“He was disarmed and the firearm kept in the armoury at the GSU camp before he was arrested and escorted to Isiolo Police Station where he is currently being detained,” the report read in part.

Sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations into the matter with the aim of nabbing the suspect who bought the bullets.

The area is known to be a hotbed of cattle rustling activities which are being carried out by bandits in the region.

However, in the recent past, security has been beefed up in the area following an order from the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i.
