The four police officers who were filmed brutally beating a JKUAT student on Monday have been identified and interdicted.

“Other action and other internal disciplinary processes will follow the recommendations of the Internal Affairs Unit investigation,” Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai said on Tuesday.

IG Mutyambai commended the person who recorded the incident and shared it with the public on social media.

“NPS remains focused on maintaining peaceful environment and continues to urge members of the public to report any suspicious characters or activities using our toll free line 999, 911 and 112,” said Mr Mutyambai.

In the video, four police officers are seen brutalizing the already subdued student.

One of the officers kicked the student on the head while another colleague beat him up with a baton.

When the video was shared online, it led to outrage from all quarters of society, including media practitioners and Kenyans on Twitter.

The students had called a peaceful protest over a spike in muggings at the JKUAT campus and its environs where they reside.
