Newly sworn-in Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and The Digital Economy William Kabogo has assumed office.

The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry Headquarters in Nairobi on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

In a statement shared via his X account, Kabogo expressed his commitment to advancing Kenya’s digital connectivity and implementing reforms in the ministry. He described the ministry as a vital engine for creating jobs and wealth in the country.

“Our accelerated journey to a digitally connected Kenya starts now,” Kabogo noted.

Adding;

“This ministry is central to driving wealth and job creation, and I am committed to collaborating with the team, Cabinet colleagues, and stakeholders to achieve this vision.”

Kabogo succeeds Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who has been serving as the acting CS for the ministry.

Mudavadi, in his farewell message, reflected on his brief tenure as Acting CS, highlighting the strategic importance of the ministry. He lauded its critical role in shaping ICT policy, fostering the digital economy, and enhancing e-government systems.

“Having served in an acting capacity over the past few weeks, I’ve gained invaluable firsthand insights into this critical ministry, which drives ICT policy, fosters the digital economy and e-government, and shapes the nation’s information, broadcasting, and communication landscape,” Mudavadi stated.

Adding;

“I encouraged him to champion the ministry’s pivotal role as a backbone for other sectors and a driving force in advancing the Digital Superhighway and Creative Economy.”

He emphasized the ministry’s potential to unlock opportunities, particularly for the youth, while addressing issues like digital security.

Mudavadi also commended the ministry’s leadership team, which includes Principal Secretaries John Tanui (ICT and the Digital Economy) and Edward Kisiang’ani (Broadcasting and Telecommunications).
