Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has played down online ridicule after a viral video clip showed him being chased away from the podium at the Bomas of Kenya on Wednesday.
Itumbi had stood behind President Uhuru Kenyatta during the formal release of the BBI report to the public, when he was ejected from the dais.
A security officer guarding the Head of State was seen pushing Itumbi away from the stage, in what has been termed online as an “embarrassing moment” for the digital strategist.
But Itumbi now says he sees nothing wrong in what the presidential guard did, given he [Itumbi] is “a very small person”, and that the security officer, whom he has identified as a Mr Muriithi, “was doing his work”.
“A policeman at work. Itumbi at work. A day in office for us all. The sideshow is good conversation… Wacha polisi afanye kazi yake… Mimi ni mtu mdogo sana… I have only one advantage, Inshallah, time! Haya turudi kwa mambo ya nchi… Salute! Mr. Muriithi, you did well,” said Itumbi on Twitter on Wednesday, November 27.
In an earlier tweet, Itumbi refuted allegations that he suffered embarrassment during, and after, the incident.
“No embarrassment, just another great day in office… Of course, you see I still remained on the podium. Just one of those moments when everyone is just doing their job… Haha. [I] enjoyed [the moment]. Tuko sawa,” he said.
