A family in Elementaita, Nakuru County has called on the Kenya Wildlife Service to tackle rampant cases of human-wildlife conflict in the area.

This is after a man was attacked by a hyena that nearly ate him alive were it not for his neighbour’s bravery.

George Njeru, a father of four, had just left for work on Monday at about 5.50am to Ndibai Secondary School where he earns his living as a watchman.

Minutes after he left, his wife Beth Wambui, told K24 Digital that she heard a person screaming and at first thought the wail was coming from the neighbouring village.

According to the first responder, Joel Kabaiku, he found the hyena on top of Njeru, having knocked him off his bicyle.

Kabaiku said he rescued Njeru by spearing and hacking with a machete the hyena.
