Hundreds of mourners in Bomachoge Chache Constituency in Kisii County, many of them Kenyatta University students, turned up for the funeral of a local musician, defying Covid-19 guidelines on burials.
The mourners were attending the burial of Adventist Church singer, Belden Nyabuto, who was also a fourth-year Kenyatta University student.
Police officers who were deployed to the funeral had too much on their hands following the large number of mourners who thronged the burial.
The local MP, Alpha Miruka, who attended the funeral warned the mourners to heed the Ministry of Health COVID-19 prevention protocols.
He also called on the Music Society of Kenya to continue remitting royalties from Nyabuto’s content to his young family.
