Highest number of COVID-19 cases in Kenya reported as 457 recover from disease

Kenya has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases in a single day after 688 tested positive for the disease between Friday and Saturday.

Kenya’s COVID-19 total tally now stands at 12, 750, said Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, who addressed journalists during his tour of Embu County on Saturday, July 18.

The 688 new infections were discovered in 4, 522 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

Four hundred and twenty-five (425) of the new cases were discovered in male patients, whereas 253 were recorded among female patients.

The youngest new patient is aged 7 months old, whereas the oldest is 95 years old.

Nairobi, which has 7, 298 confirmed cases, leads the COVID-19 infections in Kenya, followed by Mombasa which has 1, 812 and Kiambu wraps up the Top Three most-affected counties with 725 cases.

Four hundred and fifty seven (457) patients recovered from COVID-19, bringing to 4, 440 the total number of recoveries in the country.

Four hundred and one (401) of the recovered patients were under home-based care, whereas 56 were in quarantine facilities across the country.

Three more people succumbed to the disease, bringing to 225 the total number of deaths arising from the contagion.

Kenya has thus far tested 238, 153 samples for COVID-19.
