High Commission in Kampala confirms efforts to trace missing Kenyan activists
By Steve Ireri, October 3, 2025The Kenyan High Commission in Kampala has confirmed that it is actively engaging Ugandan authorities following reports that two Kenyan nationals, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, were abducted by armed men in the Kireka area of Kampala on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
In a formal communication shared by Foreign Affairs PS Sing’Oei on Friday, October 3, 2025, the Mission indicated that it had received a letter dated October 2, 2025, from Vocal Africa, addressed to the Principal Secretary at Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, raising concerns over the disappearance of the two Kenyans.
It stated that the letter provided details of the alleged abduction, noting that the whereabouts of the missing nationals remain unknown.
“The High Commission of the Republic of Kenya in Kampala presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda and has the honour to draw the attention of the estemeed Ministry to information that two Kenyan nationals, Mr. Bob Njagi and Mr. Nicholas Oyoo, were allegedly abducted by armed men around Kireka area, Kampala, on Wednesday 1 October, 2025 and their whereabouts remains unknown,” the statement read in part.

The Mission said it had written to Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting its assistance in liaising with the relevant security agencies in Kampala to urgently obtain information regarding the situation.
It added that the request was aimed at addressing the concerns of the families of the missing individuals while working towards securing their release and safe return to Kenya.
“In light of the foregoing, and in order to address the concerns raised by the familles of the two Kenyan nationals, the Mission requests the Ministry’s assistance in liaising with the relevant authorities in Kampala to obtain information regarding the current situation of the missing Kenyans in order for the Mission to take appropriate action in securing their release and safe return to Kenya,” the statement added.

The High Commission further reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard the welfare of Kenyan citizens residing in or visiting Uganda, stressing that it will continue to provide updates as investigations progress.
It also appealed for calm, noting that it remains in close consultation with both Ugandan officials and Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nairobi.
“The High Commission of the Republic of Kenya in Kampala avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda the assurances of its highest consideration.”
Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’Oei, also confirmed through his official communication channels that the Mission is actively pursuing the matter with Ugandan authorities.

He assured that information will be provided to the public as soon as it becomes available.
“On the matter of two Kenyans missing in Kampala, our Mission in Uganda is actively engaging authorities. We shall provide information as it becomes available. @ForeignOfficeKE@VOCALAfrica_,” he wrote on X.
