Term One studies for 2020 for pre-primary, primary and secondary schools in Kenya begin on January 6, the Ministry of Education announced in a letter to all regional directors of Education.
The letter seen by K24 Digital says the primary and secondary schools will close on April 10, with a mid-term break slated for February 17 to February 21.
Term Two studies resume on May 4 and end on August 7, with half-term break penciled in for June 15 to June 19.
Term Three studies begin on August 31 and end on October 30, with no mid-session break.
The total number of weeks in which primary school pupils will be in session are 38, whereas students in secondary schools will stay in school for 41 weeks.
National exams, KCPE and KCSE, will be administered in November. KCPE dates are November 2 to November 5, whereas KCSE exams will take place between November 6 and November 30.
The Teachers’ Training Colleges’ session dates were also announced in the circular.
Term One studies for the TTC students begin on January 7 and end on April 10. Term Two studies start on May 4 and end on August 7. Term Three studies commence on September 1 and end on November 13. The total number of weeks college students will be in session are 39, the Ministry of Education says.
The letter copied to the Education minister, Interior CS, KNEC CEO, among other State departments, was signed by Education principal secretary Dr Belio Kipsang.
