Police officers in Machakos County on Saturday arrested a 69-year-old-man accused of defiling his seven-year-old granddaughter.

According to Kathiani B village elder, Beatrice Mbindyo, the seven-year-old girl was tending her family’s herd of cattle when her grandfather accosted and raped her.

The village elder said the girl returned home crying and informed her relatives what had transpired.

Further, the village elder said the grandpa gave the little girl Sh60 and threatened her with unspecified consequences should she report the incidence.

Following his arrest, the 69-year-old man was taken to Manyatta Police Station in Masinga Sub-County awaiting arraignment.
