Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna says Miguna Miguna’s unruly behaviour was to blame for his frustrations in his bid to return to Kenya.

In a statement to newsrooms on Wednesday, January 8, Oguna said Miguna’s March 2018 chaos at the JKIA resulted in him being “categorised as an unruly passenger”, hence the precautions taken against him.

“Following the incident at JKIA in March 2018, Miguna was categorised as an unruly passenger in line with Annex 17 of International Civil Authority Organization (ICAO) standards and recommended practices that allows prohibition of unruly passengers,” said Oguna in the statement.

Oguna further stated that the State is committed to facilitating Miguna’s return to the country, though the vocal politician is yet to collect his travel documents, resulting in his multiple failed bids to travel back.

“The Government is aware about the court ruling, and is ready to comply. However, according to ICAO, a passenger must have valid travel documents. Miguna is free to present himself to any Kenyan mission to obtain his passport. It is, however, puzzling that Miguna has not made an effort to obtain his passport from any of the missions. Nevertheless, our missions abroad are ready and willing to assist him to get his documents once he presents himself,” said the spokesperson.

This comes hours after Miguna was ejected from a Nairobi-bound Air France plane that he boarded in Paris.

The airline said it was yet to get clearance from the Kenyan Government in order to let Miguna fly in their plane to Nairobi.

Miguna, however, claims President Uhuru Kenyatta is out to frustrate his readmission into Kenya.
