Governor Simba Arati’s sister set to be buried in Isinya
By Mustafa Juma, August 10, 2025The family of Kisii Governor Simba Arati is mourning the passing of his sister, Isabella Arati, whose burial is scheduled for Sunday, August 10, at her farm in Isinya, Kajiado County, next to Entarakwet Hotel.
In a statement issued via its official X account, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party conveyed its condolences to its Deputy Party Leader.
Although Governor Arati has yet to issue a public statement on his sister’s death, the Orange party has pledged solidarity with the Arati family during this period of grief.
“We commiserate with our DPL @SimbaArati following the loss of his sister Isabella Arati. Burial is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday, 10/8) at her farm in Isinya, Kajiado County, next to Entarakwet Hotel. As a party, we stand with the Arati family during this period of grief,” ODM stated.
The Raila Odinga-led party did not, however, give the circumstances surrounding Isabella’s death.

Moral support
Several ODM grassroots leaders visited Arati’s family on Saturday, August 9, 2025, ahead of the burial to pass their condolences.
“Today Kisii team, led by ODM Chairman Paul Momanyi Kabos visited the family of HE Simba Arati who had lost his Sister, Robina. The late will be laid to rest tomorrow in Kiseriani. Pole Sana Governor,” Hezbon Mochama, a youth leader from Kisii, wrote on Facebook.
This comes just days after Arati announced the passing of his 2022 gubernatorial contest competitor, Bishop Josiah Onyancha and his wife, Hellen, who perished in a horrific accident on the Kisii-Narok Highway while en route to their son Edwin Nyarangi’s graduation.
“It is with heartfelt sorrow that I have learned of the passing on of Bishop Josiah Onyancha and his wife, Hellen. The couple tragically lost their lives in a horrific accident on the Kisii-Narok Highway while en route to their son Edwin Nyarangi’s graduation. Bishop Onyancha, who vied for the governorship seat in the 2022 General Election, will be remembered as a courageous, respected, and distinguished leader. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Onyacha’s children, family, and friends, and I hope they find comfort and peace during this challenging time,” Arati wrote on X on August 7, 2025.
